The luxury watch has sustainability built across its design, materials and processes
Sustainability is the new mantra across the entire fashion industry today, and more so across the luxury goods sector. It's not hence any surprise that the Italian luxury goods maker Salvatore Ferragamo is focussing on sustainability too.
What's interesting is the product - watches. This product category has been much less of a focus so far - perhaps because of its small size and overall low carbon footprint along its lifetime.
But a leading high fashion company incorporating sustainability in this product as well augurs well for the growth of sustainability in the fashion sector.
The new F-80 Skeleton Sustainable has FSC certified cork, post recycled PET fiber, vegetable tanned leather, responsible packaging materials and bioplastic support cushion. The company has gone further and obtained additional carbon offsets to make the entire product carbon neutral.
