ECAP is an EULIFE funded project which aims to reduce the clothing waste across Europe and implement a circular economy model. Developed by WRAP in collaboration with leading industry organizations, the project provides a framework based on implementation of sustainability practices carried out during the core project period for 4 years ending Dec 2019. Its approach encompasses sustainable design, production, consumption, collection, recycling and more.
The project focuses on 8 action areas, some of them are sustainable design practices for clothing longevity, sourcing more sustainable fibres, encouraging governments to procure sustainable approaches, influencing European consumers and more. The project had important synergies with existing and upcoming sector activities and supported these to deliver best practice.
The synergies included specific sustainability goals developed through European Commission proposals such as the Circular Economy Package, Product Environmental Footprint, and EU Garment Initiative, as well as Action Plans led by National Governments and Industry Associations.
