Christina Dean is the Founder of non-profit Redress and Co-Founder of upcycled fashion brand The R Collective. Through its work Redress runs sustainability based consumer education workshops, clothing drives, industry engagement and inspires the next wave of designers coming through with the global Redress Design Awards.
In this interview with Make Good, Dean explains her work with The R collective where designers use waste materials from luxury brands, mills and manufacturers, and Redress’ textile bank to put together sustainable collections. She talks about integrate waste-reducing methods with brands, sorting post-consumer waste, finding best possible use for textile waste including partnering with factories for innovative recycling technologies.
She also examines accountable environmental government policies that push circularity in the fashion industry while educating consumers on responsible purchase decisions.
