The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute is a non-profit organization created to turn the making of things into a positive force for people, economy, and planet.
The Institute administers and promotes the Cradle to Cradle Certified Products Program that guides innovation and development by assessing product quality across five categories- material health, material utilization, renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness. Standard requirements are developed through a stakeholder engagement process with input from technical experts, market leaders and the public.
Products that meet the transparent criteria of this rating system receive the Cradle to Cradle Certified mark. Many companies representing multiple industries have already demonstrated the viability and benefits of designing products according to the C2C framework, such as Herman Miller, Shaw Industries, and Aveda. To date, nearly 200 companies have engaged in the C2C Certified process.
