Canopy is an organization whose mission is to protect endangered forests that are logged at a rapid rate and put species, communities, and our climate at risk. Canopy works with the forest industry’s biggest customers and their suppliers to develop business solutions to protect nature. Based on their research, ancient and endangered forests are being used in the manufacture of dissolving pulp to produce fabrics such as rayon/viscose, modal, and lyocell.
The CanopyStyle Audits are a set of criteria created by a canopy to establish a credible, third-party verification process for viscose producers. The audits are used by apparel brands, retailers, and designers as a guide to implementing their CanopyStyle sourcing policies in order to protect endangered forests. Designers and clothing companies such as Levi Strauss & Co., Marks & Spencer, EILEEN FISHER, Stella McCartney, and H&M have partnered with Canopy to safeguard the world’s forests and species.
CanopyStyle includes over 160 global companies and viscose producers that represent 75 percent of global viscose production, working toward ridding their supply chain of Ancient and Endangered Forest fiber.
