This study provides details on different types of energy used across the major textile processes along with the quantum with an emphasis on electrical and thermal energy used in wet processing. Various energy management options that can be implemented in these areas are provided.
Some of the prominent process measures for efficient electrical energy management include one bath bleaching, combined drying and curing in finishing, energy efficient motors, and more. For efficient thermal energy management, some of the suggested measures are vacuum impregnation, vacuum roll extractor, use of sieve drum drier, etc.
It also suggests guidelines for general energy management techniques and use of novel technologies such as digital and non-conventional energy and concludes that detailed assessment of current energy consumption scenario and exploring innovative process specific management solutions would enable improved implementation of energy management systems.
