The paper provides details on the existing and emerging legal framework to drive the sustainable textiles in the EU. Details on related standards, labelling, market opportunities and possible solutions for producers, retailers and policy makers to drive the growth of sustainable textiles market in the EU have also been provided

Some of the legal frameworks in place are REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical Substances), ECHA and some environmental labelling schemes such as the Nordic Swan, Blue Angel, EU Eco label and more.

The study discusses some of the opportunities and barriers in implementing sustainability measures for policy makers and brands and states that collaboration between these stakeholders along with production professionals and retailers would enable promote more collaborative initiatives and campaigns for a sustainable fashion ecosystem.
