Implementing energy management measures in an Egyptian textile industry

The case study discusses the sustainability benefits of energy efficient equipments and processes implemented in a textile mill in Egypt. Data on total energy savings and cost involved have also been provided.

The study involved a detailed review and analysis of energy consumption through energy audits, building the energy management system as per ISO50001:2011, implementing and monitoring of the suggested actions.

Results showed that the applied measures resulted in significant energy and cost savings. For instance, use of energy efficient lighting system resulted in annual monetary savings of over Rs. 6 lakhs. The study concludes that the applied energy management system has significant potential in energy and cost savings and can be replicated in other textile industries.
