This paper provides details on Horizon 2020 funded research project Resyntex, which aims to implement a circular redesign in the textiles sector.

The study involved detailed stakeholder discussions with around 15-20 industry stakeholders in four European regions - UK, France, Slovenia, Italy, which utilise different approaches to the collection of textile waste sourced from consumers, industry and institutions.  Detailed analysis was carried out to understand the current waste collection practices, key drivers and challenges in redesigning textile waste collection chains.

Results showed that adoption of consumer friendly collection practices, collaborations with industry stakeholders across the value chain, increasing consumer demand for recycled fabrics and appropriate legislative classification of textile wastes would enable the adoption of fibre to fibre recycling.
